Spending time with Jaycen Joshua in LA at canton house has had a big impact on my mix techniques. He has a very distinct style of mixing. Our music is a little more vibesy than these pop records, however we try to integrate the best of both worlds to create our signature sound.
Soundsystem culture has been a heavy influence behind our sound. Low frequency and crispy tops. Music driven through tape & Vintage microphones gives us that warmth of the 70โs.
Microphone selection is a huge part of our arsenal. Learning from some of the greats, taught us alot about this part of the process. Bruce Swedien, Michael Jacksonโs engineer has written some interesting material on this.
